The reality is they had moved the cost to a later invoice.
The lights came on for me during rehearsal, about 15 minutes before doors opened. The camera feed showed dark bands rolling across the wall. The panel refresh rate was too low to work with the broadcast camera. No amount of pixel density fixes that. I'm not a technician, but I understood we were about to put a broken-looking screen in front of our biggest customer.

The Short Version: What I Do Now
After the post-mortem, I changed my buying process. It's not a detailed AV guide, but it's prevented a repeat:
- Ask the venue about power, rigging, heat, and access before you ask for panel specs.
- Demand a line-item scope. If it doesn't list processor model, spare modules, test day, technician hours, and removal, ask why.
- Ask for documentation. A vendor who sends a real manual or detailed spec sheet usually has nothing to hide.
- Check finance before ordering. If they can't produce a clean invoice with a breakdown upfront, it won't get better later.
- Compare total cost, not the initial number. When someone says 'I want absen led wall price,' I always ask what the price includes.
