Lifespan claims get inflated in this industry. A quoted 100,000 hours is measured under lab conditions that real installations rarely match—constant temperature, stable power, controlled humidity. Real-world displays face heat cycles, dust, and power fluctuations. The LEDs themselves last a long time. The power supplies, connectors, and drivers wear out much faster. At least, that's been my experience with indoor large-format displays.

So when a manufacturer advertises a lifespan number, I ask to see the test data behind it: MTBF reports, component life projections, thermal test results. I apply the same logic the FTC uses in its advertising guidance (ftc.gov)—a claim needs evidence behind it. And ask about modularity.
